In June 2020, our company shipped a 1200-meter nylon conveyor belt with a width of 1600mm to an aggregate yard in Saudi Arabia for aggregate transportation and shipment.

  Difference between the nylon conveyor belt and canvas conveyor belt

Nylon conveyor belt and canvas conveyor belt are common conveyor belt, they have their respective features and application range. We will discuss the difference between the nylon conveyor belt and canvas conveyor belt blow.

1. Different materials

  Nylon conveyor belt applies nylon materials, it has high strength, good wear resistance, excellent corrosion and other advantages. While canvas conveyor belt is manufactured through reeling, finishing, rubber impregnation and other processes. Its main advantages are high softness, flat internal fracture surface, low elongation and etc.

2. Different loading capacity

  Nylon conveyor belt could withstand much more loading at the same length, the conveyor belt has higher strength, that suits for heavy load, long span conveying system. Canvas conveyor belt has relatively low carry capacity and is suitable for medium and light conveying materials.

3. Different wear resistance

  Nylon conveyor belt has relatively high wear property, that can be used for conveying those materials with strong wear resistance. While, the canvas conveyor belt have a relatively bad wear resistance, it is prone to occur wear and tear phenomenon after long term of using.

4. Different tensile strength

  Nylon conveyor belt has outstanding tensile strength property, with good tensile strength and tensile elasticity, can withstand large impact loads. But, canvas conveyor belt has weak tensile strength, do not have the ability to resist impact.

5. Different temperature resistance property

  Nylon conveyor belt has relatively good temperature resistance, it could be used in a range between 40℃ ~ and +100℃. Canvas conveyor belt has a ordinary temperature resistance, in a generally speaking, it could be only used in a range of 0℃ and +60℃.

6. Different in price

  Usually, the price of nylon conveyor belt will be more expensive than the canvas conveyor belt that they are in the same length and width. It because the requirements of producing process and materials of nylon conveyor belt will be much higher. With much better performance and longer service life.

  In a summary, there are a huge difference between the nylon conveyor belt and canvas conveyor belt in terms of materials, load capacity, wear resistance, tensile strength, temperature resistance and other aspects. It could be selected by the actual needs. 

  Especially, the conveyor belt required the materials highly, under a harsh environment condition, nylon conveyor belt has a obviously advantages. For medium, light materials transportation and some special occasions, canvas conveyor belt would be a better choice.
