Last year, our company shipped a 200-meter nylon conveyor with a bandwidth of 1200mm to a coal mine in North America for the transmission and transportation of mining materials.

  The conveyor belt is a mechanical device widely used in the industrial field. Its main functions include: material transportation, material lifting, material accumulation, material classification, garbage cleaning, operating safety, and improving efficiency.

  1. The joint of cold resistant conveyor belt breaks laterally. The joint of conveyor belt are mainly as the vulcanized joints with good wear resistance and the poor pressure resistance. If the conveyor belt manufacturers hand this improperly might lead to the joint wear, glue opening, cracks, peeling and other problems. If measurements are not be taken in a timely manner, under the tension force, through the friction of body and materials erosion, the wear and deterioration of the joint parts will be accelerated which will expand the scars and reduce the strength of the conveyor belt make the glued parts become the weak point of the whole conveyor belt. Once the tension of the conveyor belt increases instantaneously, it is prone to cause belt breakage.

  2. Drive roller is slipping and worn. Conveyor belt through the roller, relative movement will occurs between the conveyor belt and the roller which is called slipping. Slippage doesn’t necessary occur at the drive roller but it is particularly frequent at the drive roller. Slippage will make the conveyor belt increase the temperature, accelerate the damage become thinner until completely break. The main reason cause the slipping are: materials accumulate at the load bearing point, blockage of large pieces of material at the guide trough, causing the overload of conveyor belt, failure of tensioning device, oil sticking to the drive roller, ice formation, coal slurry, water and other materials entering the roller. Reduce the friction coefficient between the conveyor belt and the drive roller that lead to slippage.

  3. The conveyor belt is torn. The conveyor belt edge tearing is the most common form of conveyor belt tearing, its basic reason is due to the excessive deviation of the conveyor belt. The conveyor belt deviates and rubs against the frame, roller frame, etc, causing flanging, scratches and cracks. If it is caught by the unloader, frame, etc, during operation it will cause edge tearing. There are plenty of deviation reasons but they can be summarized into two types: One is the installation problem of the device or its quality is poor. Common factor include sinking or deformation of frame and roller brackets; incorrect installation of the load bearing roller group; deflection of tensioning device; incorrect joint of conveyor belt, etc. The second is the operation condition is bad. Reasons: the blanking point is skewed; the unloader pressure is uneven; too much material sticks to the surface of the roller; factors such as changes in the material volume or flow conditions cause the conveyor belt to deviate.

  4. The inside of conveyor belt is torn longitudinally. The longitudinally torn of conveyor belt refers to the occurrence of large cracks or complete tearing which is the most serious damage form of conveyor belt. The main reasons for longitudinal tearing in the inside of the conveyor belt: there are iron parts, large rocks and hard debris. During the transportation process these debris will stuck in the guide trough or hang in the middle structure of the cleaner roller which cause the longitudinal scratches or tears. The solid parts of the upper level equipment loosen and fall off or the vibration and impact cause the material pipe liner, guide plate, etc. And get stuck in the guide trough or other parts causing scratches on the conveyor belt.

  5.The rollers are missing continuously, the conveyor belt is sinking under load and the roller brackets are wearing out the conveyor belt. The joint of conveyor belt were glued open or partially damaged without taking any measures, during the operation was caught by the coal plow, sweeper and buffer bed. During the operation, hard and sharp foreign objects such as cleaners, rollers, gangue, iron parts etc were brought into the roller and the return conveyor belt causing the scratches and even tears.
