Problems occurred easily of heat resistant conveyor belt

  In September 2021, our company shipped a 79-meter heat-resistant conveyor belt with a bandwidth of 1200mm to a steel plant in Miami for material transmission and transportation.


  The heat-resistant conveyor belt is made of multi-layer rubber cotton canvas (polyester cotton cloth) or polyester canvas covered with high temperature resistant or heat-resistant rubber, and is vulcanized and bonded together at high temperature. 


  It is suitable for conveying hot coke below 175℃. Cement, slag and hot castings, etc.


  It is mainly used in metallurgy, construction and other industries to transport high-temperature materials such as sinter, coke, cement clinker, etc. The material temperature does not exceed 800°C and the belt surface temperature does not exceed 220°C.


  Heat resistant ordinary conveyor belt is kind of a specialized conveyor belt used for materials transportation task under a high temperature ambient. In the high temperature condition, due to thermal expansion, oxidation aging and material corrosion effect. Heat resistant ordinary conveyor belt is prone to come up with some problems.


  1. Crack and break of rubber layer: High temperature ambient will cause cracking or breakage of rubber layer, main reason is the thermal expansion and contraction property of the rubber materials. Solutions include choose high temperature resistant rubber glue, increase the thickness of the rubber layer, improve the quality of rubber, reasonably use the cooling equipment.


  2. Aging rubber layer: High temperature will make rubber layer of the conveyor belt become aged. Leading to hardening, loose of elasticity and decreased tensile strength. Ways to alleviate the aging problem of rubber layer include maintain the rubber layer regularly, avoid being exposure for a long time in a high temperature environment, replace the aging badly parts of conveyor belts.


  3. Fabric layer breakage: Under a high temperature, fabric layers are easily to occurred the problem of breakage and tearing. Fabric layer breakage are mainly due to the effect of loose longitudinal force caused by high temperature environment. Solutions include selecting long using life, high temperature resistant materials of rubber layer, design reasonably the structure of conveyor belt rubber layer, reinforce the maintenance and upkeep of the conveyor belts.


  4. Mechanical connection failure: High temperature will result in the rubber head aging, and softening of the mechanical connection part. To reduce the firmness of the connection. Solutions include check regularly and replace the aged parts of mechanical connectors, choose the connection methods that suits for high temperature ambient, regularly maintenance inspections of connections.


  5. Decreased tensile strength: High temperature will affect the tensile strength degree of the conveyor belt materials. Reducing the durability and stability of the conveyor belt. The measurement of enhancing the tensile strength of the conveyor belt needs to be taken, such as selecting the high strength materials, increasing the number layers of conveyor belts, optimizing the cord spacing.


  6. Overflow and leakage: In a high temperature, materials easily cause the phenomenon of conveyor belt overflow and leakage. Solution includes optimizing the materials guide device, ensure materials have been distributed evenly, avoid too large material particle size, making sure conveyor belt could operate stably. Except problems have been mentioned, should focus on the maintenance and upkeep of conveyor belt in a high temperature, including cleaning conveyor belt regularly, preventing attachment of pollutants, wipe out the debris on the conveyor belt in a timely manner, avoid been stayed for long time in the high temperature area.


  In a summary, heat resistant conveyor belt is prone to occurred crack og rubber layer, aging of rubber layer, breakage of fabric layer, mechanical connection failure, tensile strength decreased, overflow and leakage problems. Selecting appropriate materials, enhance maintenance, design properly of conveyor belt structure and measurements could solve these problems effectively, and extend the using life of heat resistant ordinary conveyor belt and stability.
