In October 2021, our company shipped a 200-meter-long and 1200-mm-wide skirt conveyor belt to a coal plant in Jordan for the transportation and delivery of coal.

  It can continuously convey various bulk materials at any inclination angle from 0 to 90 degrees. It has a large conveying inclination angle, wide application range and small floor space. 

  It has the characteristics of no transfer points, reduced civil construction investment, low maintenance costs, and large conveying capacity. It solves the conveying angle that cannot be achieved by ordinary conveyor belts or pattern conveyor belts. 

  The corrugated edge conveyor belt can be designed into a complete conveying system according to requirements, avoiding intermittent conveying and complex conveying lifting systems. 

  Skirt conveyor belts are used in coal and mining industries, ports and terminals, building materials industry, food processing industry, environmental protection and waste disposal, automobile industry, and power industry.

  Sidewall conveyor belts usually be consisted of rubber materials., its edge bonding is an important part to make sure conveyor belt could operate stably and extend using life. The following are some ways to stick the edge of the skirt conveyor belt.

  1. Using the hot melt adhesive: Hot melt adhesive is kind of a common adhesive that has a widely application fields. Heating the hot melt adhesive strip or hot melt adhesive powder to a molten state. Then, apply them on the edge of the skirt conveyor belt. Using the appropriative hot melt glue gun could be more convenient and accurate. Hot melt gun with excellent adhesion property and wear resistance that could ensure the edge of the skirt conveyor belt is not prone to fall off.

  2. Using glue: Choosing appropriate glue for rubber materials. Such as the polyurethane glue, butyl glue, etc. First, wipe out the edge of the skirt conveyor belt, applying glue, align the edges and apply pressure to ensure the glue is fully attached. After waiting for the glue to dry and solidify, the edge of the skirt conveyor belt will be firmly bonded.

  3. Using tape: Apply a layer of tape, such as double sided tape. Choosing the wear resistance, strong adhesive tape to make sure it could stick to edge firmly and apply pressure to ensure the tape is fully bonded to the conveyor belt.

  4. Mechanical fixing: Except to adhesive, we could use mechanical fixing to reinforce the edge of the skirt conveyor belt. For example, install metal clamps or wire ropes at the edge, clamp the edge with bolts at the edge, clamp the edge with bolts or wore ropes to fix it firmly. This method could suits for large size of conveyor belt that is able to provide stronger fixing effect.

  Regardless of which methods is used, the following points should be attention:

Before bonding, make sure the edge of skirt conveyor belt is clean, there is no free of oils or impurities, to ensure the bonding effect could according to the requirements of the specific materials and adhesive, control well the temperature and humidity and ambient condition. During the bonding process, pay attention to the safety, avoid the burns or contact with harmful chemical substance. After bonding, should wait enough time to make the adhesive fully assimilate to ensure reliable bonding.
