In December 2021, our company shipped a 144-meter nylon conveyor belt with a bandwidth of 1000mm to a coal mine in the Philippines for coal transportation.

  The conveyor belt is a mechanical device widely used in the industrial field. Its main functions include: material transportation, material lifting, material accumulation, material classification, garbage cleaning, operating safety, and improving efficiency.

  Conveyor belt is a commonly used transmission equipment in the industrial production processes, used for transporting the material from one place to another. In order to improve the efficiency and the using life of the conveyor belt, improvements and optimizations could be made from the following aspects.

  Firstly, using and maintaining the conveyor belt correctly. Improving the using life of conveyor belt, need to use it correctly. Manipulator should know and master the using method and the techniques of maintenance of conveyor belts.

  Such as, to avoid transport too heavy materials on the conveyor belt, avoid the collision and scratching of materials. Meanwhile, regularly maintain the conveyor belt, inspect the operation situation of the conveyor belt, find the problem and deal with the problem in time, such as replacing the wear components, adjusting the tensioning to make sure the conveyor belt could operate normally and extend the using life of conveyor belt.

  Secondly, choosing the appropriate materials and the structure of the conveyor belt. The materials and the structure of the conveyor belt could affect its using life and the efficiency. When selecting the conveyor belt should be according to the properties of the materials and the transportation environment to choose the suitable conveyor belt material, such as wear resistance, high temperature resistance and corrosion resistance. 

  In the meantime, the structural design of conveyor belt need to be considered, such as the number of layers of the conveyor belt, the thickness of the covered layer, to make sure the conveyor belt could withstand the weight and the tensile strength of materials to improve the efficiency and the lifespan of conveyor belt.

  Thirdly, strengthen the protective measures for conveyor belts. The conveyor belt is prone to be affected by the external environment during the operation such as the corrosion from dust, moisture, chemical substances. 

  In an effort to improve the conveyor belt using life that it could be taken some protective measurements. Such as, installing the dust proof cover on the conveyor belt, to prevent the entering of the dust and other impurities; for the transportation of materials that susceptible to moisture, should take the waterproof coating or install the rainproof sheds; for the transportation material that susceptible to corrosion, we can use corrosion resistant conveyor belt materials. By enhancing the protection of conveyor belt it could extend its using lifespan and improve efficiency.

  Fourth, optimizing the layout and maintenance of conveyor belt. The layout of conveyor belt, minimize the bends and the transition section, avoid too long distance of transportation and excessive slopes to reduce the wear and consumption of energy of conveyor belt. In the aspect of maintaining environment should keep the conveyor belt clean to prevent the accumulation of impurities and the pollutants; at the same time need to keep the dry of conveyor belt, avoid moisture and rust. Optimizing the layout of conveyor belt and maintain environment could improve the using life and the efficiency of conveyor belt enormously.
